Justice For Children March – By the Jericho Project on April 21st 2013

On Sunday April 21st the Jericho Project, together with their Patrons and in conjunction with other non profit and non governmental children’s organizations, homes for underprivileged children and orphans homes as well as all of civil society will be marching in solidarity in the annual ‘Akiel Chambers Justice for Children March.’

The theme of this year’s march is ‘Stop the Abuse!’

The march will be done in Akiel’s name as well as in the names of all of our nation’s children whose lives were tragically cut short by abuse, including but not limited to the following:

The march is held each year so that their names will not be forgotten and their abusers may be brought to justice. Other issues to be highlighted include:

– For the Children’s Law to be proclaimed and enforced.
– A properly set up, funded and functional Children’s Authority.
– The creation of a Board to oversee the operations and funding of homes for the underprivileged and the orphans in society.
– For proper and mandatory school psychological supervision and counseling provided throughout the school system
– For free parental counseling and guidance to be made available to parents in need
– For an end to bullying and for the enactment of stricter laws to eradicate this scourge
– For an end to abuse of our nation’s children at all levels in society.

Registration starts at the Queen’s Park Savannah opposite White Hall from 7:00 a.m. There will be free Tee shirt distribution while stocks last.  The march will be a silent one and will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. heading in the direction of traffic and will end at the Queen’s Park Savannah where it started.

ALL of Trinidad & Tobago are invited to march.
